Outsourcing Powers a $130M Production Win

See how John Deere leveraged outsourcing to smash production goals.

Introducing a new product line is a massive undertaking for even the largest manufacturers.

John Deere’s Georgia manufacturing plant partnered with Yanmar to introduce a new small tractor line in the U.S. Yanmar would build and test the tractors overseas, then break them down for shipment to the States for final preparation.

Once the crates arrived, the tractors required reassembly, inspection, and testing before heading to John Deere dealerships. The Georgia facility simply did not have the capacity for this additional work. The new line also faced some market uncertainty, making an expansion of the main plant a difficult decision.

John Deere needed a flexible and proven partner to manage the production demands without compromising quality, safety, or performance.

High-Quality Operations Start With the Right Partnership

MAU Outsourcing partnered with John Deere to establish and operate a dedicated off-site production facility built specifically for this project.

Using John Deere equipment and technology, MAU designed the facility to receive imported tractor components, perform full reassembly, conduct visual and functional inspections, and prepare finished products for distribution. MAU developed the production workflows and quality processes from the ground up, recruited and trained a dedicated workforce, and put on-site leadership in place to manage day-to-day operations and stay aligned with John Deere's performance expectations.

By the end of the second year, the MAU supervisor had demonstrated such strong operational leadership that John Deere entrusted them with full responsibility for managing and supervising the entire support center.

Outsourcing Benefits Deliver $130M and Zero Incidents

The off-site operation became a high-performing extension of John Deere's manufacturing network. The numbers show the full scope of this successful partnership.

  • $130 million in product was produced in the final year alone
  • Production expectations consistently exceeded
  • Quality standards consistently surpassed
  • Zero lost-time incidents over five years
  • Zero demurrage charges for port materials
  • 100% inspection rate maintained throughout
  • Improved same-day fulfillment for attachment kit orders
  • Turnover reduced by 67% compared to typical contingent workforce rates

This partnership allowed John Deere to meet and exceed its production targets while maintaining the high-quality standards its customers expect.

MAU Outsourcing provided the stability, safety, and efficiency needed to scale operations effectively, proving that the right outsourced partner can function as a seamless and productive part of your own team.
