When MAU’s late founder and CEO, Bill Hatcher, started MAU in 1973 with $500 and a typewriter, he had just endured a lay-off within manufacturing. His vision was to create a staffing and recruiting company that knew the ins and outs of Manufacturing, so that all customers, whether applicants, clients, or employees could be successful. To date, MAU is proud to work with some of the world’s greatest manufacturers.* Today is Manufacturing Day, and we celebrate them and their employees.
Manufacturing Day is a nationally-recognized holiday to celebrate—you guessed it—the manufacturing business! Manufacturing Day is designed to amplify the voice of individual manufacturers and coordinate a collective chorus of manufacturers with common concerns and challenges. MFG Day has been held annually on the first Friday in October since its introduction in 2012 and aims to inspire the next generation of manufacturers and offer them a path toward a future in the industry.
It is no secret that within the manufacturing industry today, there exists many challenges. An aging workforce, technological advancements within the industry, and a younger generation rarely interested in a career within manufacturing, have created a major shortage of workers. However, because of efforts, such as Manufacturing Day (#MFGDay16), there are glimpses of change and hope for a bright future. A recent Deloitte perception survey polled participants of manufacturing and the results were profound!

MAU is committed to helping both employers and employees in the Manufacturing industry as we move forward. It is incumbent upon us to help improve the skills of underemployed workers so they can provide for their families and grow in their career, while also benefiting the employer, who gains a life long employee.
