A few months ago, MAU Safety Manager, Rob Loose wrote a post on Safety Culture and the Pathway to Peace. In this blog, he comically compares the peace (or lack thereof) experience through yoga, to the peace felt in a workplace where resplendent safety practices are upheld, following the direction of dynamic, risk-averse leaders, aided by the support of wide-spread employee involvement, clearly stated EHS policy and eloquently delivered safety training. He then goes on to share 6 safety culture tenets developed by well respected safety guru Rob Pater in an article in September 2015’s ASSE’s Professional Safety magazine titled, “Advanced Culture Change Leadership.”
A few weeks ago, Rob Pater published an article further expounding on those 6 tenets, Recasting Advanced Cultural Leadership. Through his explanation on these 6 tenets, Pater advises how to set your own and others’ expectations that cultural change is a process. And by following these principles, cultural changes can move forward as efficiently and stresslessly as possible.
