On Wednesday, June 10, 2015, MAU Workforce Solutions hosted clients and local business leaders for the Grand Opening of the MAU Skill School, a training facility providing an opportunity to become comfortable and confident in the process and operation of Powered Industrial Vehicles. The program includes both classroom and hands-on training that reinforces important safety habits and proper techniques, while also introducing new equipment and materials to those with limited experience.
The attendees were welcomed by MAU President, Randy Hatcher, who addressed the need for all sectors of society to come together to address both the growing skills gap and aging workforce.
John Lummus, President of the Upstate Alliance, as well as Ted Pitts, President of the South Carolina Chamber of Commerce also addressed the audience. Attendees viewed a live demo of this innovative training program, featuring three separate operators driving different types of equipment simultaneously on the course.
Both the Greer and Spartanburg Chambers of Commerce supported the event with a ribbon cutting ceremony.
